EAST LANSING, Mich. (Lansing State Journal) -- Police released surveillance video footage Friday of a man suspected in a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Cedar Street.
The video clips show a man entering and leaving the building on a stairwell.
"We just wanted to get the video out to the public to see if some mannerism or the gait (of the man)" might spark someone's recognition and prompt them to call police, East Lansing Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth said.
Dominique James Nolff, 20, of Middleville, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the Jan. 31 shooting in his apartment in the 200 block of Cedar Street and died the next day.
His roommate, a 20-year-old Michigan State University student from Grand Haven, was treated and released from Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for a single gunshot wound.
Police have described the gunman as a black man, 20-25 years old and approximately 6-foot-1 to six-foot-three and about 170 pounds. He was wearing a black, hooded North Face winter jacket, tan pants and black shoes. Police believe he suffered "significant" injuries to his face during the struggle with the victims.
The shootings occurred about 8:45 p.m. Police said they believe the incident was not random.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Dan Brown at (517) 319-6811.
