Grand Rapids - There are 12 new Grand Rapids police officers on the force. They were sworn in during a ceremony Thursday afternoon at police headquarters.
We talked with Officer Aaron Westrick about what attracted him to the job, "It's great to get out there, talk to people, and do something different everyday.” Westrick says, “You really don't know what you're going to see, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. But overall it's a very fun job, it can be very serious, but very rewarding as well."
The officers had to complete a 7 week training course to get to this point. They still have an extensive field training program ahead of them.
