Contractors celebrating construction month

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Michigan is celebrating construction month in October.

The purpose is to engage, welcome and recognize the people and opportunities that exist in the construction industry. A-B-C is inviting construction professionals to use social media during the month of October with the hash-tag construct-m-i-career and celebrate employees, highlighting jobs and why workers love their careers.

"Construction is facing a huge shortage in workers and that goes from everything to the skilled trades person up to the construction manager, engineer. It's really at all levels, and so the motivation for careers in construction month is really about getting people excited about this career pathway and helping us start this skills gap," Director of Workforce Development and External Affairs for ABC Jen Schottke said. -- the kinds of contracting jobs out there, average salary and educational paths needed for the jobs.
