GRAND RAPIDS - Students at Harrison Park Elementary learned about about philanthropy on Tuesday. They learned about giving back to their community and paying it forward. .
The students used their art skills to create placemats for seniors and veterans. Jasmine Bebee an eighth grader says It's nice after Thanksgiving and black Friday when we are taking so much, that we should give back to the community."
School leaders say teachers spent a lot of time talking about giving today, because so many of their students have been on the receiving end of community philanthropy. They hope to one day be able to give back too.
