Consumers Energy gives update on GVSU street lights

No street lights on the road near GVSU Campus

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Students at Grand Valley State University are concerned about a lack of street lights.  48th Avenue in Allendale Township doesn't have any street lights near campus.

Township officials say they are waiting on a design from Consumers Energy.  The lack of light combined with recent crime has students concerned.

Roger Morgenstern with Consumers Energy says they will have a design complete in the next two weeks.

"We only have so many employees and the workload has been higher this summer, the request came in 5 or 6 months ago in the spring, our summer workload is very high with construction and new businesses that are expanding, that also takes up time from our design team, there are so many projects that we are working on so GVSU had to get in line with other projects....we know it's been awhile, we appreciate their patience, we're getting to it," says Morgenstern.
