Competency hearing for murder suspect delayed

A competency exam in a murder case that has received national attention will be delayed for several weeks.

NEWAYGO, MICH. - A competency exam for Glenna Duram is being delayed several weeks. Duram is charged in the shooting death of her husband, Martin.

Investigators say she shot him, at their home near Sand Lake, then tried and failed to kill herself on May 13, 2015.

Duram appeared in court Monday, Oct. 17, but a judge postponed competency hearing to give the defense time to obtain additional medical records.

Glenna Duram will be back in court Nov. 9.

The case received national attention because the only witness to what happened was the couple's pet parrot, "Bud."

The bird repeated a conversation that happened during the confrontation.
