ALLEGAN, MICH. - Former Allegan District Fire Chief Matt Gillies waived his preliminary hearing this morning.
The 34-year-old is charged with sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl, recording it and uploading the video. Investigators say he also uploaded other videos of him performing sex acts over child porn, sometimes while at work.
Police were alerted to the suspicious activity by a photo sharing website. They traced IP addresses to Gilles' home and work computers.
On Wednesday, Nov. 30, the case was bound over to circuit court for trial.
Gilles is currently out of jail after paying a $25,000 cash bond. The judge in the case tells WZZM 13's Alex Shabad a pre-trial conference before the trial should take about six weeks.
If convicted, he could spend 20 years in prison.
Documents show prosecutor asked for minimum of $75K bond for Matt Gillies, but it was set at $25K instead @wzzm13— Alex Shabad (@AlexShabadWZZM) November 30, 2016
