Former MSU football players Josh King, Donnie Corley arraigned in East Lansing

The three players kicked off MSU's football team yesterday because of sexual assault charges have been arraigned in court.

EAST LANSING, MICH. - Former MSU football player Josh King was arraigned this morning on multiple charges in connection with a January sexual assault.

King, 19, of Darien, Illinois, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count of capturing an image of an unclothed person. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Judge Richard Ball set King's bond at $25,000, cash or surety.

King's was the third arraignment of football players accused in a Jan. 16 incident that occurred during a party at an on-campus apartment. His charges are the most serious.

Donnie Corley was arraigned earlier today on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. His bond was $10,000 and he paid 10% of that to be released before King's court appearance began. Corley, of Detroit, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Demetric Vance, 20, also of Detroit, was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. His bond also was set at $10,000 and he was released after paying 10%.

All three men were ordered to have no contact with the victim. Preliminary hearings for all three are scheduled for June 22.

According to testimony during a Tuesday hearing to authorize arrest warrants, MSU Police believe that during the party King invited a woman into a bathroom for a quiet talk, then forced her to perform oral and vaginal sex. After that, Corley and Vance are each accused of forcing her to perform oral sex.

King's attorney, Shannon Smith, said she believes evidence will show the sex was consensual.

Corley and Vance's attorneys have both said their clients are innocent and expect to prove that as the legal proceedings progress.

All three were immediately dismissed from the football program on Tuesday shortly after Judge Richard Ball issued warrants for their arrest.
