‘Foul smelling' suspect sought in Norton Shores robbery

NORTON SHORES, MICH. - Police in Norton Shores are investigating an early morning armed robbery that happened Thursday, Oct. 27, at a Shell gas station on Grand Haven Road.

At about 3:25 a.m., the suspect demanded an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, according to a Norton Shores Police Department news release. The suspect then ordered the two female clerks working at the time into the cooler of the station.

One of the clerks described the suspect as a 6-foot-2 black male with a thin to medium build, police say. He wore black jeans and a light blue scarf over his face.

The clerk also described the suspect as "foul smelling."

No one was hurt during the ordeal, however, the suspect did flee the scene on foot and was seen headed north.

The Norton Shores Police Department are being assisted by Michigan State Police Patrol and K-9 units but encourage anyone with information to assist in the investigation by contacting NSPD at 231-733-2691 or Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME.
