Grand Rapids police investigating third stabbing in 12 hours

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Grand Rapids police detectives are investigating a stabbing that happened around 7:45 a.m. Friday, March 10.

A GRPD lieutenant tells WZZM 13 the incident occurred near the 800 block of Worden Street SE. That is just west of Kalamazoo Avenue on the city's southeast side.

It is the second stabbing to happen in Grand Rapids this morning, and the third in the last 12 hours. The first on Friday occurred just before 2 a.m. and resulted in a the death of a 60-year-old man.

Police say no one died in the Worden Street incident. However, the victim, also a man in his 60s, was seriously injured. Both he and the suspect were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The GRPD lieutenant did not comment on any injuries sustained by the suspect or the relationship between the two. However, he did say she is a woman in her 30s. She was arrested.

Detectives are currently investigating the stabbing incident to determine what charges should be filed.
