WALKER, MICH. - The man who stabbed a woman in an attempted carjacking in a Meijer parking lot is still on the loose. The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Thursday night in the Meijer parking lot on Alpine Avenue.
Neighbors across the street from that Meijer looked out their window and saw police in their yards, aggressively searching for someone.
"My window is right there and I was looking out and the cops were coming through the fence here, see how its broken, it wasn't like that two days ago," Dennis Boyd told WZZM 13 on Friday as he pushed against his broken fence.
"The cops were coming through there with the dogs looking for some dude."
Police say a man attempted to carjack a 25-year-old woman. The man forced the woman into the front passenger seat of her car, when a struggle broke out between the two, the woman was stabbed multiple times, until someone nearby stepped in. The suspect hit that person in the face with some kind of object, and took off.
That's when police say the suspect ran away, and a second Good Samaritan tried chasing after him towards a neighborhood, but came up short.
"They found a jacket or something right here and they put in a bag or something," Boyd said as he glanced at a bush on the side of his yard.
Police spent hours searching the block, but could not find the man.
"Entire neighborhood blocked off, cops were everywhere, search dogs, everything," neighbor Nicole Potts said. "I was actually shocked, and kind of scared. I'm glad that we went around the house as soon as we saw the cops over here and locked all the doors and windows."
A suspect causing some some neighbors to think twice, before they head out and others to stay alert.
"If I would have caught him running through here he would have been in big trouble," Boyd added.
Police say the woman who was stabbed was transported to a hospital to treat her injuries, she has since been released. As for the suspect, he remains on the loose.
