GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A Byron Center woman is pleading guilty to killing her dog with a butcher's knife on New Year's Day.
Ronda Pekel pleaded guilty but mentally ill to a felony charge of killing and torturing an animal. She faces up to four years in prison when she returns for sentencing next month.
Police say she stabbed her dog multiple times inside her home on Westview Drive SW in southern Kent County.
Charges were filed after a necropsy was performed in late January.
