Man arraigned on open murder charge in deadly Grandville stabbing

A 39-year-old man is now facing charges for a deadly weekend stabbing in Grandville.

GRANDVILLE, MICH. - A 39-year-old man is jailed on a charge of open murder in an early weekend morning stabbing.

Darrell Jones was arraigned Monday, April 17, for the death of 47-year-old Ernest Willingham, according to a Grandville Police Department news release.

Police were called around 1:40 a.m. Saturday to the area of Woodbine Avenue and 28th Street SW on an abduction report. While responding to the scene, police realized no abduction occurred but a man was stabbed to death.

Jones' next court appearance is scheduled for May 1.

He is being held in the Kent County Jail on a $1 million bond.
