Man breaks up break-in, gets stabbed in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - A man was stabbed twice early Friday in the first block of Corwin Street, and police are still seeking his attacker.

Battle Creek police said they were called to a home on Corwin, off Capital Avenue Southwest near Goguac Street, about 6:20 a.m. Friday. A 40-year-old man said he believed his assailant was preparing to break into his house, and when the victim tried to stop him, the attacker stabbed him in the stomach and arm.

The man was taken to a hospital. Police said the man's vital signs were stable.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and brought in a police dog to try to track the attacker. They did not find him.

The attacker was described as a white male with a low-cut beard, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and wearing jeans.
