Police identify man shot, killed in Benton Harbor

Benton Harbor man dead after being shot

BENTON HARBOR, MICH. - A 30-year-old Benton Harbor man is dead after being found shot and severely wounded on Friday.

Officers were called to 233 Michigan Street around 7:50 p.m. for complaints of a man suffering a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old John Conyers in serious condition.

Conyers was taken to Lakeland Hospital, where he later died. He originally is from Tampa but had moved to Benton Harbor about six months ago.

At this time, there are no suspects in custody police say.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the incident, along with Michigan State Police Major Crimes Unit, Berrien County Sheriff's Department and the FBI VCTF.
