Man gets 5 years in prison for shooting outside Muskegon Heights school

A Grand Rapids man will spend more than five years in prison for a triple shooting outside Muskegon Heights High School.

MUSKEGON, MICH. - A Grand Rapids man will spend more than five years in prison for a triple shooting outside Muskegon Heights High School.

Clarence McCaleb fired at a group of students leaving a basketball game at the high school in February 2016. He then raised his gun at a sheriff's deputy and was shot.

Shortly after the incident, Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph Thomas said he would not tolerate people bringing violence into the community.

McCaleb has a lengthy criminal record.

Police say he's a known member of the the Bemis Boys street gang in Grand Rapids.
