MSP: 3 people arrested with stolen refrigerator, drugs

CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Three people have been arrested and face numerous charges after attempting to steal apartment appliances, Michigan State Police say.

Toopers say they received a call around 4 p.m. for reports of appliances being stolen from the Peachtree Apartments in Constantine. A recently evicted tenant allegedly invited the suspects to the apartment to take the appliances.

Witnesses followed the suspect's vehicle out of the apartment complex and onto Riverside Drive, giving troopers a description of the vehicle -- a 2007 Ford Explorer. Authorities were able to catch up with the suspects on Riverside Drive near Dickinson Road. There was a refrigerator from the apartment inside of their SUV.

A 30-year-old woman and 32-year-old man, both from LaGrange, Indiana and another 31-year-old man from Elkhart, Ind. were all arrested and face numerous charges:

  • Misdemeanor possession of stolen property
  • Felony possession of meth
  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
  • Misdemeanor possession open intoxicants in a motor vehicle

According to MSP, the 31-year-old man also had a felony warrant for his arrest from Indiana for violating his probation.

All three are now lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail while the case is being investigated further.
