PORTAGE, MICH. - On Sunday morning, Dec. 10, a car crashed into a gas pump at the Woodbridge C-Store gas station in Portage.
When police arrived, the car was unoccupied and witnesses told police that the driver fled the scene on foot.
An officer located the 17-year-old Portage resident who was believed to be the driver. According to police, the suspect became "combative and delusional," and he assaulted the officer. The suspect then got into the driver's seat of the patrol car and attempted to drive away.
He was forcibly removed from the car and subdued with a Taser.
Multiple officers restrained the 17-year-old, and he was then brought the hospital for evaluation.
Neither the suspect nor the officers sustained serious injuries. The case remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
