Listen: Recording released from Lakeview schools bomb threat

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - Battle Creek police are asking residents to listen to the voice of the person who telephoned a bomb threat to the Lakeview School District in early February.

Major Jim Grafton released the six-second voice recording Tuesday and said anyone who recognizes the voice is asked to call police at 269-966-3322 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.

On the recording, the voice says "Hello, you have a bomb threat in your school tomorrow."

The threat was left about 12:04 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, but not discovered by staff until about 7 a.m. Friday. The entire district was closed and students from the high school were bused from the school to another location were parents were notified to retrieve them.

The rest of the students in the district were held at the schools until they were released to parents.

Detective Sgt. Troy Gilleylen said Tuesday police are continuing their investigation of the threat. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found the woman who owned the phone which was used to make the call. However police said they believe someone else used it to make the call and they have and two persons of interest. He said one of them is a student in another district and one is not a student.
