Suspect arrested, victim identified after Grand Rapids murder

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - An arrest has been made following a murder investigation from the Grand Rapids police.  

Police say 54 year-old Barry Roger Cooper was found dead Wednesday, April 19 in the area of Front Avenue and Letllier SW. 

According to a release from the GRPD, the suspect in this homicide is currently in custody for open murder and felony firearm. Identification of the suspect is being withheld until the arraignment. 

The victim was found not breathing with a bloodied face according to GRPD. Police arrived on the scene around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Police say the death was the result of a gunshot wound.

The body was the second to be located in Grand Rapids Wednesday afternoon. Another investigation was underway at Highland Park.
