Suspect of two Michigan homicides appears in court

Kalamazoo homicide latest

SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, MICH. - The man accused of two murders in the Kalamazoo area, appeared in court Monday morning for one of the killings.

Zachary Patten, 32, went before a judge in Saint Joseph County. Patten faces charges in Saint Joseph County for murder, home invasion and a gun charge.

Investigators believe he killed a woman in Kalamazoo and a man in Constantine on Thursday night. Patten turned himself in to police in South Bend, Indiana the next morning. He walked up to officers and told them he "needed to be arrested."

Prosecutors are expected to file charges against Patten for the murder in Kalamazoo County, some time this week.
