Teen pleads guilty to deadly party shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A teenager has admitted to shooting and killing another teen at a Grand Rapids house party earlier this year.

16-year-old Cleo Nelson pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection to the death of 18-year-old Kiara Carter.

Carter was shot in the head during a party on Kalamazoo Avenue SE in March. According to friends, she was a mother to a 1-year-old girl.

Nelson faces up to 15 years in prison. He could be sentenced as a juvenile or an adult. That hearing is set for early September.
