Texas authorities arrest man linked to Target security breach

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Police have arrested a man who they believe may be connected to the national Target data breach late last year.

Our sister station in Austin Texas, KVUE and USA Today are citing an arrest affidavit for 40 year old Guo Xing Chen. It says Chen may have been involved in the $70 million Target credit breach in December 2013.

Police say on Dec. 12, Chen used a stolen credit or debit card to purchase several gift cards at a Target store at 1021 West University Avenue in Georgetown, Texas and at another Target store in Round Rock, Texas. Police also believe Chen used the stolen cards the previous day at a Target store in Temple, Texas. An internal "Be On The Lookout" alert had been issued within Central Texas Target stores.

The affidavit says Chen had an outstanding felony warrant for credit or debit card abuse from the State of Arkansas.
