2 men in custody in connection with Peppino's armed robbery

Police say a Peppino's employee was trying to get into his car after work when the men approached him and pulled a gun.

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Two men are in custody in connection with the armed robbery of a Peppino's Pizza employee in Allendale Township early Wednesday morning.

Captain Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says the armed robbery took place around 2 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, behind the Peppino's at 5065 Lake Drive.

Bennett says two men were taken into custody Thursday in connection with the case. One of them is a 30-year-old from Allendale, the other a 27-year-old Kent County man. Both were arrested on unrelated warrants.

The Peppino's employee was getting into his car after his shift when two men approached him, one of them with a handgun. They stole cash from the victim. No one was hurt.

Bennett says charges are coming in connection with the armed robbery.
