GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Two schools from the metro area are breaking ground on expansion projects Wednesday, May 31.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School is building a student center and STEAM center. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Catholic Central's groundbreaking will take place at 4 p.m. at the school's campus in downtown Grand Rapids.

Meanwhile, Grand Rapids Public Schools are continuing their transformation plan with an addition to Buchanan Elementary School. It will get 16 new classrooms, a gym, art room, music room, kitchen and cafeteria.

A majority of the existing building will be torn down to make away for new playgrounds and parking.
