GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Grand Rapids is among the safest college towns in the country according to an online National Home Security and Crime Prevention Center.
SafeWise weighed FBI statistics from 2014, from each city with at least one academic institution. They calculated the total number of crimes committed in relation to population and other important factors to determine its outcomes.
Grand Rapids came in third for the safest “ideal college community”, behind Winona, Minnesota and Charleston, Illinois. Two other Michigan cities, Houghton at 19 and Marquette at 21, were on the Top 30 list.
