Mona Shores superintendent resigns

MUSKEGON, MICH. - The superintendent of Mona Shores Public Schools has resigned following a paid leave.

After an internal investigation in October, Greg Helmer was was reprimanded for retaliating against an employee. Initially, he was placed on a plan of assistance.

Board members reviewed that plan last week and placed him on administrative leave indefinitely.

Helmer's resignation was announced at Monday night's board meeting.

Bill O'Brien, director of curriculum, instruction, assessments, has been appointed as interim superintendent.
