Farm Bureau volunteers lending a hand for western, northern Michigan's hungry

WEST MICHIGAN - More than a dozen members of the Michigan Farm Bureau, on behalf of the Young Farmer and Promotion and Education program, came together to package food for the needy across Western Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

The volunteers spent Thursday Sept. 1, at Feeding America West Michigan, prepping food and distributing through its agencies in Comstock park, Benton Harbor and Cadillac.

More than 12 percent of western Michigan and Upper Peninsula residents, 20 percent of children, do not have consistent access to healthy food. Feeding America West Michigan and MFB's Young Farmer and Promotion are putting together events like these to help combat these shortages for everyone in the region.
