Police Chief David Rahinsky staying in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Grand Rapids Police Chief David Rahinsky, previously on the short list for a police chief job in Punta Gorda, Fla., said he will be staying put, as of Nov. 20, 2017.

Rahinsky said, according to the Punta Gorda city manager, the job went to a Baltimore Police Dept official, but Rahinsky was the second finalist for the position.

Rahinsky said it meant a lot to him through this process how many people supported him, especially identifying with him wanting to be near family. He added he is eager to continue his work in Grand Rapids.
