Genetic testing for breast cancer can give patients detailed health information

Today is the 13th: WZZM sits down with Kelly Jensen from Mercy Health's Comprehensive Breast Center in Muskegon.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Sometimes knowing your normal when it comes to breast cancer goes beyond mammograms and self-breast exams and includes genetic testing for those with a history of breast cancer in their family.

Kelly Jensen from Mercy Health's Comprehensive Breast Center in Muskegon is a physician's assistant who assesses a patient's risk of breast cancer through a detailed risk assessment.

Only 5-10% of cancers have a hereditary gene, but that doesn't mean a negative test gives you the all clear.

Jensen talks with Health Reporter Valerie Lego about what that means.
