Forty percent of women in Michigan have dense breasts.
A new law in Michigan requires doctors to notify women when they have dense breasts and inform them that that they should consider an MRI in addition to their annual mammogram.
Unfortunately, under Michigan law, that additional testing is not covered by insurance and could cost women $2,000. Other states that have passed a breast density bill that includes a provision that insurances have to pay for those.
