GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Each year, the first Sunday in June is a worldwide Celebration of Life that marks National Cancer Survivors Day.
It’s a day to acknowledge the cancer survivors in our community, to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face and mostly importantly to celebrate life.
This year, Spectrum Health is holding an event to help celebrate and raise awareness.
Spectrum Health hosting a Cancer Survivors Day on Wednesday, June 7. It is taking place at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavillion from 1 to 5 p.m.
There will be lots of resources available along with fun activities, live music and food.
Susanne Pettigrew, physician assistant and Lindsay Syswerda, event coordinator, stopped by The Exchange to explain the importance of celebrating cancer survivors and the need for public awareness regarding the ongoing challenges that cancer survivors face after cancer.
