GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The heat can definitely take a toll on your body. Believe it or not, the heat can also make you a little air-headed.

When you sweat, what's actually happening is that your blood is making its way to the top layer of your skin. The movement of the blood helps the sweating process, but that also means less blood is being used to carry oxygen to your internal organs -- including your brain. You really can blame the heat if you find yourself not being able to make decisions.

A 1968 NASA study found when the air temperature is over 95 degrees, you can make up to 60 mistakes an hour.

On a serious note, this heat is nothing to take lightly. People who are overweight or have heart conditions have a very hard time keeping their core body temperatures low in this type of heat. If the core body temperature gets too high, it can cause permanent damage to your internal organs especially your kidneys.
