(WZZM) - Recently, the Kent County Health Department confirmed several cases of West Nile.
Allegan County also had one confirmed case of west nile that was found this summer.
Nearly a dozen other cases have been found in Michigan. The most so far are in the Detroit area according to the Centers for Disease Control.
It's not just west nile. The Michigan Department of Community Health says it has identified Michigan's first reported case of the swine flu.
A child from Washtenaw County developed a mild case of the H3N2 virus after being around pigs at the Ingham County fair on August first.
Doctor Richard Tooker is the Medical Director at the Allegan County Health Department. He talked more about the west nile virus and the new swine flu.
