There is a brand new way to get your cardio in Grand Rapids!
Jump GR is offering fitness classes done with rebound shoes. It's kind of like having a mini-trampoline on your feet.
Alex Kakabaker is Grand Rapids first certified Kangoo Dance Instructor. She is now offering classes every Sunday on the Blue Bridge.
"I kind of refer to it as like a Zumba class, it's a little bit more repetitive, but we are on rebound shoes so we are kind of dancing and jumping at the same time -- so, it's awesome," Kakabaker said.
"It's a fitness class, they go about 55 minutes and it's all cardio," she explained. "It's a good leg workout, it's going to use all the leg muscles and it burns cellulite like crazy."
You could burn up to 800 calories in just one class.
Similar to a ski boot or roller blade, the rebound shoes are easy to put on, and only take a little getting used to.
"They look more intimidating than what they really are," Kakabaker said. "Once you put them on people get super comfortable -- super quick."
Having launched Jump GR in August, Kakabaker is excited for her first summer offering West Michigan a fun new way to stay fit.
Jump GR also offers classes on Wednesdays in Hudsonville. Kakabaker says she would love to hold more classes in other Grand Rapids area locations as well.
