(WZZM) - Millions of people suffer from back pain any given day of the year. Anyone can have back pain, but there are some things that increase your risk according to the National Institutes of Health.
Getting older is one of them. Back pain is more common the older you get. You may first have it when you are 30 or 40 years old.
Back pain is also more common in people who are not physically fit or overweight. Too much weight can stress the back and cause pain.
Even smoking can increase your risk. Your body may not be able to get enough nutrients to the discs in your back if you smoke. Smoker's cough may also cause back pain.
Genetics and even race are factors.
