GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Authorities in Grand Rapids are moving one step closing to solving one of the city's unsolved homicides from March.
Cleo Nelson, 16, is facing murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Kiara Carter. Carter was shot in the head during a party on Kalamazoo Avenue.
According to court documents, Nelson has an extensive juvenile record that includes larceny and two assault cases.
A judge has ordered him to be held at the Kent County Jail, as opposed to a detention center because they say he poses a potential threat to others. He is being held without bond.
Nelson is scheduled to be back in court July 5.
