GRAND RAPIDS - It's now easier to travel down Leonard Street in Grand Rapids. A major construction project that stretched from from Alpine to Turner, officially ended Tuesday.
The $2,000,000 project included resurfacing the road, sidewalk improvements and widening, new trees and rain gardens to help absorb storm run-off. Planners worked with businesses and residents to design the road and consulted with the neighborhood's specific plans for guidance during the design phase.
City leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Noon featuring remarks from First Ward Commissioners Dave Shaffer and Jon O'Connor and West Leonard Business Association President Johnny Brann Jr.
