Local counties honored in 'Digital Counties Survey'

Two West Michigan counties are being named among the best in the nation when it comes to technology practices.

The Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties announced the winners of their 15th Digital Counties Survey on Thursday, July 20.

The counties were recognized for "initiatives that streamline delivery of government services, encourage collaboration and shared services, enhance cybersecurity and even reduce carbon emissions."

They were split up into categories based on population.

  • Allegan County finished 3rd in the up to 150,000 population category

  • Ottawa County finished 9th in the 250,000 - 499,999 population category
