Regional Air Alliance of West Mich. enters new stage

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM)—There is a new effort to bring low-cost flights to Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Dick DeVos and other business leaders met Wednesday to announce the next generation of the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan. DeVos organized the group several years ago to attract new carriers to the airport. Last year, Southwest Airlines began flying into Grand Rapids. However, DeVos says the work to strengthen air service in West Michigan is not done.

"We need to keep our foot down and keep growing our air service to keep pace with our economic expansion and our economic needs and the needs of our community," said DeVos.

The new alliance will continue focusing on improvements like expanding the Ford Airport terminal and consolidating security checkpoints.
