ArtPrize Eight begins: See how, when to vote

ArtPrize officially started at noon, but tonight, there is another kick-off of sorts here at Rosa Parks Circle at 6:30 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - ArtPrize Eight has officially begun!

Thousands of people are expected in Grand Rapids and its immediate suburbs during the 19-day competition, featuring close to 1,500 entries, 171 venues and dozens of events.

The first round of voting begins noon Wednesday, Sept. 21 -- barring temporary technical difficulties from previous years. An opening ceremony is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle.

Round 1 of voting ends Saturday, Oct. 1. The next day, the final 20 entries in the public vote will be revealed, with the beginning of Round 2 voting. 

That round ends Thursday, Oct. 6, with winners announced Friday, Oct. 7

ArtPrize Eight ends Sunday, Oct. 9.
