'Collectors Show / SPRING' opens at ArtPrize Hub

ArtPrize Collectors Show / SPRING opens Friday

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - "Collectors Show / SPRING" opens this weekend at the ArtPrize Hub. The show will forge artist-collector relationships through a three-day exhibition from March 31-April 2.

The artwork of fifty contemporary artists -- including thirty past ArtPrize artists, curated by New York-based artist and juror Tyler Loftis -- will be on display and available for purchase, with 20% of the proceeds directly supporting Arts Education programming at ArtPrize 2016.

Collectors Show / SPRING opens to the public on the evening of April 1. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with a reception, and then DJ AJ Pashka will set the tone for the evening from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight.

The exhibition will also be open to the public on April 2 from Noon-8:00 p.m. and then by appointment only on Sunday, April 3.

"I try to come back to West Michigan as much as I can. It's an exciting place to show and talk about art," noted Tyler Loftis, a Grand Haven, Michigan native and juror for Collectors Show / SPRING. "The goal is to add to an already rich culture that is teeming with artists and new collectors. I have a passion to show and talk about art with artists, art collectors, and people who have had little to zero exposure to art."

Collectors Show is a twice annual showing intended to foster artist-collector relationships. An open call to participate was sent to past ArtPrize artists, and artist Tyler Loftis selected thirty from the nearly 400 submissions to form this SPRING exhibition. Loftis arranged for an additional twenty professional artists from New York City to take part -- resulting in a diverse body of work, including local artists, as well as those living and working in New York City and abroad, from emerging artists to well-known names such as Robert DeNiro Sr., Arthur Dove, Paul Resika, Leland Bell, and Bob Thompson.

ArtPrize will return from September 21 to October 9, 2016. Venue registration for the eighth annual event is now open through April 7, and artist registration from April 18-June 2.
