Registration to vote in ArtPrize 8 is open

ArtPrize registration is open

GRAND RAPIDS - The official start of Artprize is two weeks away but some venues are already starting to pop up around town, and people can start registering to vote now.   The ArtPrize 8 app started allowing people to register for voting on Wednesday.

This year more people will be able to vote in the contest.  In previous years you had to be at least 16 to vote for your favorite piece, but this year organizers have lowered the age limit to 13 years old.

Todd herring, ArtPrize's Creative Director says by registering now, you'll have more time to explore later.  He adds "Voting doesn't actually kick off until September 21, with the opening of the ArtPrize event, but you can register and you can start exploring entries on, or you can start exploring them through the mobile app itself."

ArtPrize is still looking for volunteers to help with this year's event.  Organizers say they need about 1000 people to sign up.  Registration for Volunteers continues thru this Sunday.

ArtPrize 8 runs from September 21st to October 9th.
