Battle Creek man pleads guilty to child porn charge

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Matthew Andaluz of Battle Creek has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography in U.S. District Court.

At a plea hearing, Andaluz, 44, admitted he took pornographic photographs of a 10-year-old child in his home, according to a Thursday news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Michigan.

The incidents happened in 2010 and 2011; investigators were able to connect Andaluz to the images in 2016. He was arrested that year.

The investigation was part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood, which connects law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

Andaluz will remain in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for Sept. 25. He faces 15 to 30 years in prison and must register as a sex offender.
