Man falls asleep in Taco Bell drive-thru, arrested for DUI

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. -  A driver found asleep while waiting for an order at Taco Bell was arrested for drunk driving, Battle Creek police said.

Officers reported a 48-year-old man from Bedford Township and his girlfriend, 40, from Vicksburg were asleep in the drive-thru lane at 821 Capital Ave. S.W.

Police were called at 2:51 a.m. Sunday by restaurant employees who said the couple had been asleep about 10 minutes.

Officers said when they arrived they knocked on the car window to wake the driver. He told officers he didn't have a valid license and that he had three shots of tequila about five hours earlier. A blood test showed his blood alcohol level at .12 percent, above the legal limit to drive.

The man was taken to the Calhoun County jail.
