Man killed in car-pedestrian crash near Battle Creek

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A 56 year old man is dead after getting hit by a car in Bedford Township, near Battle Creek. It happened just before 2:00 a.m. on W. Michigan Avenue near Robinwood Avenue.

Police say the man was wearing dark clothing and in a dimly lit area when he was hit by a vehicle going west. That vehicle was driven by a 40 year old man who was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The man hit by the car was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Calhoun County Dispatch says they were on their way to the area to investigate a report of someone matching the description of the victim standing in the road waving their arms at a vehicle that turned onto a side street when they got the call about the crash. 

Law enforcement is looking into a possible connection between the two incidents. The man's name is not being released until his family has been notified.
