Three teens arrested following road rage incident in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - Three Battle Creek teenagers were jailed for assault Saturday following a road rage incident reported at 7:39 p.m.

A 31-year-old Battle Creek man told Battle Creek police that a car nearly hit his vehicle on Roosevelt Avenue and said teenagers in the vehicle were hanging out the windows and the car was driving recklessly. He followed the vehicle to a parking lot in the 500 block of East Emmett Street and confronted the three young men.

Police said the argument escalated when the teenagers began to assault the other driver. They also grabbed the cell phone from his wife, 30, as she was calling 911 and threw the phone smashing it.

The teens then left but using cell phone pictures taken by the woman and based on other witnesses, the teens, two 17 and one 18, were located and arrested on charges of assault and battery. One also was charged with interfering with a 911 call.
