GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Some people in Grand Rapids had "Christmas" in Heartside Park on Friday, July 21.
Rich Zavitz said he wanted to find a way to give back, so he and his neighbor gathered up some clothes and food to provide as a donations to the homeless in downtown Grand Rapids.
They set up tables in Heartside Park where anyone could come grab a lunch and then browse the clothing tables. This was their second time hosting the event, and Zavitz said they went with the theme "Christmas in July."
Many people waited in line to get ice cold water and sandwiches. Zavitz said they brought enough food for more than 100 lunches and tables full of clothes and non-perishable goods.
Zavitz said they hope to do this at least once a month. Anyone who wants to donate can reach out on their Facebook page.
