GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The Grand Rapids Fire Department is celebrating a major milestone today.
They have conducted 7,000 smoke detector home safety assessments throughout the city so far this year. The inspection was finished on June 30 in the Creston Neighborhood.
The program started back in 2013 and has since seen 43,000 smoke alarms installed in homes across the city.
More than 7000. That's how many homes the Grand Rapids Fire Department has installed smoke detectors in. They hope that number grows. pic.twitter.com/9HKOqaqdaP— Evan Linnert (@linnerte) July 12, 2017
The free home safety assessment program teaches the community about fire safety, and makes sure alarms are in homes and working properly.
