Memorial walk for shooting victims held in Berrien County

It's exactly one year since two courthouse officers were shot and killed by an inmate.

SAINT JOSEPH, MICH. - Two courthouse officers were honored in Berrien County Tuesday night.

A memorial walk was held for Joseph Zangaro and Ronald Kienzle on July 11. Both men were gunned down one year ago after an inmate escaped and disarmed an employee in the Berrien County Courthouse.

People at the walk say it's a reminder of the men's bravery.

"First responders, those who are running to danger, definitely, their job, their position, what they offer to communities can never be underestimated," says Marcus Muhammad, the Mayor of Benton Harbor.

More than 600 people attended the memorial walk.
